The Controller reports directly to the CFO, in Anchorage, Alaska, and is a fully competent accounting professional who manages an accounting staff in 4 different locations and has the authority to hire and terminate direct report employees and institute processes and procedures. This position assigns and audits the work of the accounting department and is engaged in the more critical and confidential aspects of accounting.


• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience performing and providing training on all accounting department functions

• Experience in the Architectural, Engineering, Construction industry(ies) a big plus

• Strong Excel and Deltek skills

• Ability to collect, analyze and present key financial information

• Experience with Corporate Cash Management

• Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations and to communicate effectively with other departments within the company

• Manages Accounting staff

• Hires, terminates, trains, accounting staff

• Responsible for directing and coordinating the work of accounting staff in all aspects of accounting: AP, AR, payroll and associated taxes, general ledger, employee expense reports, banking, job cost accounting.

• Responds to the CFO and President with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs

• Collaborates with CFO with preparation of monthly financial statements

• Collaborates with CFO with preparation of information for annual state or federal overhead rate audits

• Records entries for depreciation, amortization and other entries as required

• Project budget analysis

• Interacts with principals and project managers to ensure efficient/profitable project delivery

• Other office management responsibilities as assigned
