MANAGING PRINCIPAL - HAWAI`I
As the Managing Principal of RIM’s Hawaii office, Kurt Mitchell takes a hands-on approach with projects by managing and providing direction and overall quality control. Kurt’s philosophy is that a project must not only provide economic success, but also make a contribution to the community. With 40 years of experience in architecture, planning and urban design, Kurt’s leadership extends throughout the local community with his involvement in numerous organizations including serving as a Trustee for the Pacific Buddhist Academy, a community facilitator for City and State projects, past-Chair on several local non-profit Boards, an Adjunct Professor for UH Manoa School of Architecture, a State Housing Commissioner and as an AIA Honolulu Chapter Board Member. Kurt earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon.
Interest: Volleyball, Dog rescues (Kurt has rescued and placed over 100 dogs in permanent homes), Native Hawaiian Culture, watersports including canoe padding, surfing, etc.
