Eddie H. Ebert, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP
Managing Principal – Hawai`i
RIM is proud to announce the return of Eddie Ebert, AIA, NCARB, serving as Managing Principal of our Hawaii office. Eddie is no stranger to RIM or Hawaii, having started his career at RIM’s Honolulu office as an intern in 2004. This entry level position was his first job after a five-year stint with the Navy. He continues to serve as a Civil Engineering Corps Officer in the Navy Reserve, which brought him to Bahrain, Guam and Italy. Eddie is extremely grateful to RIM for allowing him to learn AutoCAD and pursue his lifelong goal of becoming an architect after earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Notre Dame. With a strong work ethic, Eddie was promoted to Project Designer, working on multiple projects including Family Housing at Kadena Air Base in Japan, Kapi’olani Medical Center, Honolulu Design Center, and more.
Eddie always believed that a solid understanding of construction was critical in order to become a better architect. He learned about construction contracts, detailed construction documents, and cost implications while employed with a construction firm in Hawaii. In this role, he managed mega projects including the U.S. Navy Communication Center at NCTAMS Pacific and the C-17 Fuel Cell Hanger at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
Eddie’s path back to RIM took many twists and turns on a worldwide stage. He learned public diplomacy while working as a Diplomat at the Embassy in Turkey and the Embassy in war-torn Sudan. Both assignments brought a high level of personal danger and intense global attention at the time.
Armed with construction expertise, solid management skills, and tactful diplomacy, Eddie is well equipped to master new challenges in his new leadership role. “It’s exciting to see so many familiar faces working here at RIM. This is a testament to the longevity, stability, and integrity of the firm and its people,” remarked Eddie on his first day back in the office. “I admire RIM’s entrepreneurial style, its balanced portfolio and the breadth of its market reach. I am eager to listen and learn so that I can best support and grow the team at RIM,” he added.
As David McVeigh, RIM’s President said “It has been such a pleasure bringing Eddie back and seeing how he has developed over the years. His youthful enthusiasm and deep leadership experience will continue to enhance our talented design staff. We look forward to the growth and leadership that he will bring to our Hawaii Ohana!”
On a personal level, Eddie is married with two children, a six-year old son and a four-year old daughter, both of whom keep him highly engaged. He is outgoing, energetic, and brings a positive attitude that’s conducive for team building. Please extend a warm “aloha” to Eddie!
