Project Accountant

This position is primarily responsible for preparing and issuing monthly project related invoices according to diverse contract terms; entering and reconciling all project related expenses including consultant invoices; entering all project budgets; and preparing project related reports. The ideal person for this position will enjoy utilizing their ability to professionally and effectively communicate with and develop positive working relationships with project managers and principals in addition to consultants and clients. Attention to detail, excellent organizational and problem solving skills are required.


Competencies

• Accounting Degree or substantial progress toward attaining or equivalent experience

• Five (5)  years accounting experience; work emphasis on project accounting highly preferred

• Applicable experience with an architectural or engineering firm preferred

• Proficiency with Excel and Outlook required; working knowledge with Word needed

• Deltek Vision experience a plus

• Strong internal and external customer service mentality

• Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task and follow through on assignments

• Ability to understand and implement directions given on assignments

• Self-motivation and good judgment essential

• Energetic, flexible and positive team attitude

• Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

• Ability to prioritize work and to remain poised under pressure of deadlines

• Ability to communicate concisely and effectively verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Day to day interaction with Project Managers and Principals creating monthly project invoices according to contract terms

• Setup and maintain project financial information and maintaining contract files

• Process monthly billings

• Assist with tracking and recording revenue in accordance with GAAP

• Provide project profitability and project progress reports to management

• Reconciling project accounts

• Liaison with accounting contacts in consultant, client offices

• Adhering to established internal controls, processes and procedures

• Process accounts payable and working with management on maintaining accounts receivable

• Collaboration with Controller to resolve issues and improve processes/procedures when necessary
