Resiliency: The New Sustainability
Sep 28, 2018
The first building in San Francisco to be rated by the US Resiliency Council (USRC) is 85 Bluxome, RIM's newest ground-up five-story office building in the South of Market (SOMA) neighborhood. The building received a Gold+ rating, with four or five stars awarded in each of the requisite categories:
5 out of 5 stars for safety
4 out of 5 stars for damage
4 out of 5 stars for recovery
The USRC has established a meaningful rating system to describe the performance of buildings during earthquakes and other natural disasters. This rating system is intended to be used to educate the public to understand the risks inherent in our structures and improve the resilience of our communities.
Congratulations to the team: ZFA Structural Engineers, BCCI Builders, Bluxome Partners and RIM! And to the current tenants, Collective Health, who can be assured that they occupy one of the safest buildings in San Francisco!
