Alaska Native Science & Engineering Building
educational
The Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP) involves a comprehensive suite of high school outreach, recruitment, university retention and placement strategies designed to help students fulfill their potential in college, sustain their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and develop an interest in graduate study.
The strong form of the architectural composition reflects the ANSEP Program’s functional requirements as well as the incorporation of an abstract allusion to an Alaskan Native canoe. This expression of a Native water vessel represents the current and ancestral housing of culture combined with knowledge, as well as the dreams and aspirations of a younger generation.
